Unveiling the Enchantment of Gartang Gali

A hidden Himalayan gem featuring a 150-year-old wooden bridge suspended over the Jad Ganga River, offering stunning landscapes, rich history, and adventure opportunities. Gartang Gali is one of the most unique and thrilling experiences you can have in the Uttarkashi region.

Historical Background

Built in the 17th century by Pathans from Peshawar, Gartang Gali served as a crucial trade route between India and Tibet. Merchants historically transported wool, spices, and goods across its narrow planks. The 1962 Indo-China war caused border closure and the bridge fell into disrepair for nearly 60 years until its public reopening in 2021.
